Super cheap compared to the original
By D. Egan
Note the photo of the product shows the two playboards separate. That's because the two play boards don't hold together in any way. Even leaning them together, there's no flange or notch of any sort to prevent them from just falling. For those who don't own the original, the two halves of the board are conveniently locked together and swing to make the A frame for playing and lie flat to store. So with this version of the game, you have to precariously lean the two play boards against each other or each player has to hold their own play board. This is a real problem because of how easily the doors flop closed if tilted the wrong way a tiny bit. Oh, and it only comes with one set of single sided cardboard playboards - that is, only one game option. That is compared to the original which comes with 4 (or maybe 3, I forget) sets of double sided cardboard sheets (8 or 6 play options). Next step - see if I can modify these cardboard sheets to fit into the original. Doubtful.

Very disappointed
By Murph
Hasbro really cheapened out on this version. They should be ashamed of putting out such a poorly designed game.

Because the doors open to the side with the pictures below them, instead of upwards with the pictures on them, the doors block your view of the characters.

Take a look at the pictures of the products on the Amazon page. Use the zoom feature. Can you see that Vader is holding a lightsaber? You can't see Luke's or Mace's at all. How about Darth Sidious? Is that a blaster in Han's hand or not? Is Boba Fett holding a weapon? You can't see Anakin's hands at all. He's a Jedi. Is he holding a lightsaber?

The whole game, you have to keep trying to find the character on the little pictures above to see if they meet the yes-no question. Oh, and they are in a different order up top than they are below, and are in a different order in the black board than the red.

The game is no longer designed to be placed on a table, but to be held in hand. However, the doors swing closed too easily, especially when young, energetic kids are holding them. So you end up putting them down on the table anyway. This negates the usability of the character selector sliders at the top, since your opponent could easily see who you selected.

Guess Who is a great logic game for kids, and it's even fun to play for adults. But whoever signed off on this cheap, difficult-to-play version should be fired. I think I'll end up just discarding the plastic frames, put 50 poker chips in the box, and use those to cover up characters when we play. It just doesn't work with the doors.

I tried to contact Hasbro with my complaint, but they require you to set up an account on their web page to even send them an email. So I came here to voice it instead.

New design
By Daniel Hawkins
We got this for my boys for Christmas, and it's gotten more play time than almost any other Christmas gift. The reviews that complain about the design and the cards falling out apparently got noticed--this new design just has one big card that fits behind the entire plastic tray, not individual cards in each door.

It could definitely be a challenging game for non-Star Wars fans, because questions like "is your person part of the rebel alliance" make for good gameplay, but if you don't know the characters it could be tough. That being said, even Grandma managed to play a round or two with the boys (5 and 7) and they all had fun.
