Best LEGO SW summer set!
By John
After missing out on the previous two Gunships, I've been anticipating for a re-release that could be reasonably obtained. The Geonosis Padme with the ribbed shirt, curvature, and scandalous smirk made this purchase a no-brainer.

Figures:
Comes with 5 minifigures, all exclusive to this set (plus the 2 destroyer droids, which have a hollow body cavity and stand funny, so I see them more as accessories). This is the only Anakin minifigure from Episode II - he comes with a Padwan braid on the torso. Obi Wan has a new shaggy orange hairpiece. This is also the only EPII version of Padme.
The Clone Captain is most likely the highlight of the set. Being red instead of blue, it has the same print and mold as the Legoland exclusive. The Clone Pilot has a regular torso but a unique helmet with a smaller visor.

Build:
At 1175 pieces, the $0.10 price to brick ratio is generous for a licensed set.
The Gunship is true to the source material but has some few drawbacks.
1) The main cockpit is a separate piece and is attached to the chassis through only 1 pivot brick at the rear. The front (with the gray rectangular latch) is actually not locked to the nose of the ship, making the cockpit very insecure.
2) The sliding doors on the side do not close all the way. The box photo represents the "final" look, which is a bit disappointing since the last two Gunships could be completely closed.
3) The gunner cockpits on the wings are incomplete and should be a full sphere instead of half.
4) Like the Malevolence 9515, the ship comes with a handlebar on the top. Lifting the ship from the bottom will crush the plates (I tried), so I guess the handle is the compromise.

Other than these minor caveats, this is an excellent set for the price and will please young and old alike! If you are on the fence, this is a much better value than the Sail Barge.

Excellent lego Set for nearly all ages
By O Chefe
What a fun build!
Excellent for kids and adults!
Not time consuming but it takes enough time to build to enjoy it and get your money's worth

This set is huge! I love it! This set does have a lot of pieces and two seperate instruction booklets (make sure to pay attention!! you can forget pieces if you dont). However! There is a catch (and an excellent move on Lego). They have you build the set in modules (i.e. building the cockpit and then switching to say building the bottom portion for example) It makes for excellent starting and stopping points and also for team/family/or sibling builds.

The bags are numbered for ease as well. The set also comes with multiple figures. The set seemed to be durable for kids play. Throughout the build you were reinforcing what you were building. I'm sure however if you drop it just right you could snap off the wings.

There are many moving parts and little cubbies and hidey holes to arouse the imagination of children and those young at heart. There is even a carrying handle that you build into the ship!! There are "missiles" that can be "launched" so that could be cause for concern for tiny injury or being sucked up by the vacuum.

Well worth the money!
