Hasbro's Star Wars The Black Series: Series 2 6" Boba Fett
By Graham Swearingen
For anyone who missed out on getting the Hasbro SDCC 2013 Exclusive Boba Fett with Han Solo in Carbonite (I myself tried desperately to get one but since I am unable to attend Comic Con and am poor, I didn't shell out $200 plus for it) you can now get that figure at an affordable price (I got a complete set of series 2 from Entertainment Earth, for some reason Amazon isn't releasing series 2 until November 22nd, more than a month after other online retailers). Granted this figure doesn't come in as nice a box as the SDCC exclusive, nor does this figure come with Han Solo in carbonite but I am just glad to have what I consider to be Hasbro's definitive Boba Fett action figure.

Hasbro is doing a great job with their 6" Black Series line, the figures look great, the accessories look great, the packaging looks great. Boba Fett here looks very accurate to the source (This is Empire Boba Fett and not Jedi Boba Fett, as anyone who knows their Fett can tell simply by his wrist rockets. Here, as in Empire, his wrist rockets are green like the rest of his armor unlike in Jedi where his wrist rockets are brick red). Everything from his helmet proportions to every little scratch in the paint of his armor is accurate; this figure is deadly accurate. Boba Fett comes with his signature arsenal, his BlasTech EE-3 Blaster Rifle with a brown paint app on the stock and black paint for the barrel with some really great silver dry brush work to make the rifle look weathered. Boba Fett also comes with his Sacros K-11 Disintegrator Pistol (which Vader warned against using when hiring bounty hunters to track down the Millennium Falcon in Empire) with a silver barrel and brownish/red grip and stock and of course this figure wouldn't be complete without his modified Mitrinomon Z-6 jet pack. Maybe the only thing this figure is missing is his fibercord whip (which he didn't use in his Empire outfit, just in Jedi so I suppose it wouldn't make sense for this figure to come with that accessory). I am also a bit bummed that they did not make Boba Fett's Broad-Band Antenna with External Targeting Rangefinder on his helmet articulated, it would be nice to be able to move that piece from vertical to horizontal as seen in the movie, but it's a small gripe.

I have purchased every single Boba Fett action figure (minus the young Boba Fett action figure for Episode II: Attack of the Clones) since the resurgence of Kenner's Power Of The Force reboot line in 1995. That is essentially when I really got into action figure collecting and Boba Fett has always been my favorite Star Wars character and action figures to collect. Why do people like Boba Fett so much, he spoke barely 3 or 4 lines in The Empire Strikes Back but that just doesn't seem to matter to anyone. Boba Fett looks cool, Boba Fett is cool. His armor design is one of the best designed costumes in film history, it's near perfection. Boba Fett is like Clint Eastwood from the Man With No Name series of western films, only way cooler. If you are only going to get one Boba Fett action figure, or only one figure from this series 2 of Hasbro's Star Wars Black Series, then this is the figure to get. You should be able to get this figure for around $20. This figure is FULLY APPROVED.

The one that started the madness
By Neko-san
I was not looking forward to collect 6" figure, until I saw the pictures of the Sandtrooper. Of course, Boba Fett was the character that started this madness and I had to have it too. This seems to be basically the same SDCC figure repackaged for us mortals.

This is Boba Fett is from the Black Series 6" line, as seen in Empire Strike Back.

The articulation of this figure is short of awesome, surpassing the best from the Vintage Collection:
- Ball-joined head,
- ball-hinged shoulders, swivel right biceps,
- ball-hinged elbows, ball-hinged wrists,
- ball-joined torso,
- ball-hinged hips, swivel thighs,
- front-back hinged higher and lower knees, and ball-hinged ankles.

This is another armored figure that hides the articulation as much as possible. You still can see the pegs on the ball-hinges elbows and hinged knees, and the ball-hinges on the shoulders and hips are well hidden by armor and pouches. However, the swivel on the bicep is perceptible even as the cable that connect the forearm controller to the bicep (just before the swivel) is a nice touch. Unfortunately, the pouches hanging from the front of its belt are hard plastic and limits the freedom of moment of the hips. The belt could be rotated around the waist to free the hips as it is an unremovable accessory, but looks odd that way.

However, the way the ball-hinged ankles work is ingenious. The foot angles front-back, but swivels inwards-outwards. So, if you stretch the legs, swiveling the feet inward would allow the sole of shoes to be parallel to the ground. This makes the figure very stable even in action poses. In addition, the figure can angle the wrist inward-outward, specially valuable when trying to pose the figure holding the blaster shotgun and blaster pistol.

On top of a great sculpt and articulation, this figure has an amazing paint job. The wear and tear on the green of the armor is awesome, down to detailed dent and nicks. The gray uniform has subtle dirt wash, specially perceptible towards the legs. Compared to the Vintage Collection counterpart, I think this figure looks better.

A few accessories has been included to complement an already awesome figure. Besides its pistol, which fit well into its holster from the belt, the figure include a light repeating blaster rifle and its trademark jet pack, which the figure balances well when attached to it. As with the SDCC version, this one doesn't include a removable helmet and the eye sight doesn't swing forward either.

This figure may still have the same faults as from SDCC, but I'm too distracted with the good in its sculpt, paint and articulation to notice.

In all, this is a great figure with guns and back pack for posing for those scenes in Empire Strike Back.
